Freddie Potts is playing at the base of midfield for Club Brugge and sometimes, his other two midfielders standing next to #AVFC's centre-backs. Huge distances between them. No wonder Gomes can spring forward freely - Villa a great threat when they make successive passes forward

GOAL: Emi Buendia restores Villa’s lead! It’s all about Joao Gomes’ brilliant work to set up the Argentine, who scores his first Champions League goal. Club Brugge 1-2 #AVFC

Jacob Tanswell

What a game this is. #AVFC respond straight away. They play from a free kick, Jackson holds the ball well and flicks it to Joao Gomes, who keeps making runs forward and no one tracks. He bustles into the box, gets his head up and finds Buendia to score his first CL goal. 2-1

Jacob Tanswell

Club Brugge extremely aggressive in possession and with two wide wingers, two attacking full-backs and no 8s that get into the box, they flood forward. Similar to a few years back, they pull a crossback for Hugo Vetlesen to finish well. 1-1 #AVFC

Goal, Club Brugge. Hugo Vetlesen. 1-1 #AVFC

Joao Gomes does excellently to drive into the box and sets up Hemmings, who shoots wide. Good chance. #AVFC could have three already inside the first quarter of an hour. An open, quite risky game. Entertaining.
