Martinez's save resulted in the corner that Casemiro scored from. It all stemmed from Rogers getting caught in possession. #AVFC guilty of being sloppy in possession again and out of position when they gave it away - now punished. Disappointing as had a good base to build off

HT: Man Utd 0-0 #AVFC Emery will be pretty happy. Stopped United centrally but wary of threat outwide and crosses. Definitely opportunities to play through or bypass United's midfield via Buendia/McGinn & Rogers' rotations and/on the break, but all about the final decisions

HT: Goalless at the break. Villa settled quickly at Old Trafford, but Man United created the best chance of the game so far when Bruno Fernandes picked out Diogo Dalot inside the box, but the Portuguese fired over. Villa were a threat on the break late on. Man United 0-0 #AVFC

Buendia gets into so many good positions and so regularly. Casemiro and Mainoo not the most athletic duo, so when they try to jump on Barkley and Onana, Buendia and McGinn have so much space - a 4v2 #AVFC have to keep finding both

It's not overly difficult for #AVFC to play out from the back as they have overloads when United press, but the midfield is having to get through a lot of work. Having John McGinn back does give Emery so many more options in what to do with and without the ball. Good tempo

Good save from Martinez to stop Diallo's header. Good game, this. United a clear threat out-wide and with crosses into the box but encouraging signs for #AVFC with the ball. Buendia, McGinn, Rogers rotation positions to try and overload Mainoo/Casemiro. Just need to control tempo

#AVFC in a very compact 4-4-2 without the ball, the defensive line is high and aimed with stopping play through midfield. Emery keeps gesturing for the ball to go out-wide but never through, so onus on Bogarde/Digne to defend well
