Aston Villa Report

Jacob Tanswell

Tyrone Mings and Lamare Bogarde are coming on #AVFC

Jacob Tanswell

Bizot clearly told at half time to take all his goal kicks long. Aims for Buendia, who is up against Dunk. Maatsen's shot hits the side netting. #AVFC away support still in full voice, to their immense credit

Jacob Tanswell

Barkley has dropped into midfield alongside Kamara. Buendia is the lone striker. Never thought I'd write those words. #AVFC

HT: Brighton 4-0 #AVFC Towards end of the half, Villa, with 10 men, genuinely felt in danger of the 9-0 record defeat. So evidently under-equipped and a shambles. Feel quite sorry for those out on the pitch, though, given the circumstances Emery & players are dealing with.

John Townley

HT: A disgrace of a first half from Aston Villa, who shipped four goals in the first 31 minutes before Joao Gomes was sent off for violent conduct. An absolute nightmare way to open the new season. Lucky it's only four. Brighton 4-0 #AVFC

John Townley

RED CARD: Joao Gomes has been sent off for violent conduct after a VAR intervention. This first half could hardly get any worse. Brighton 4-0 #AVFC

Jacob Tanswell

Gomes doesn't calm down Gomes kicks out on Rutter and is sent off for violent conduct. #AVFC 4-0 down and down to ten. 39 minutes in. How's your opening day

GOAL: Brighton have a fourth with 15 minutes still to play in the first half. Another mistake from Villa... struggling to keep track here. Brighton 4-0 #AVFC

Jacob Tanswell
